Research Interests

Dr. Ferguson completed her undergraduate degree in Psychology at UCLA, followed by medical school at the 91΄σΟγ½Ά. She spent the next six years completing her Pediatric and Pediatric Emergency Medicine training at the University of Colorado in Denver, CO before returning to 91΄σΟγ½Άas a faculty member in the Department of Pediatrics in 2010.

Dr. Ferguson has served as the Course Director for the Quality Improvement and Patient Safety Pathway at 91΄σΟγ½Άsince 2012. She has a special research interest in improving the well-being of medical students, trainees, and practicing physicians by fostering an open dialogue about dealing with difficult emotions, building community, and destigmatizing mental health seeking among these groups.

Her work in quality improvement is focused on improving the effectiveness of pediatric emergency care by decreasing unnecessary laboratory and imaging studies in the ED, as well as improving the timeliness and effectiveness of emergency care of pediatric patients with chronic illnesses.
