Biography

Dr. Figueroa Castro joined the Department of Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases, at the 91΄σΟγ½Ά as an Assistant Professor in December 2013. He received his Doctor of Medicine from Universidad El Bosque in Bogota, Colombia in 1998. He completed his residency in internal medicine at the 91΄σΟγ½Ά in Milwaukee, and then completed fellowship in infectious diseases at Creighton University School of Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska. Dr. Figueroa Castro’s clinical practice includes the care of adults with a multitude of infectious conditions, including but not limited to skin infections, endocarditis, osteomyelitis, prosthetic joint infections, and atypical mycobacterium infection. He provides HIV care at Froedtert West Bend Hospital, and at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac.

Research Interests

Dr. Figueroa Castro’s academic interests include infection prevention, and biomedical informatics. His research activities have included the use of free and open-source software and cloud-based geographic information system tools for the study of Clostridium difficile epidemiology in Southeastern Wisconsin.
